THE PROBLEM
66% of differently-abled gamers face barriers with current adaptive gaming controllers which inadequately serve players who can only use their head and/or mouth for input.
Most designs remain optimised for hand or partial arm use. This leaves head/mouth-only users reliant on expensive, custom-built setups that often lack full functionality or comfort.
THE BRIEF
The brief was to design a prototype of a fully functioning head operated gaming controller.
The product should be compatible with major platforms, thus will need a powerful hybrid input system that offers flexibility and accessibility in navigating multiple menus from one device.
THE AUDIENCE
The device targets quadriplegic gamers who are inconvenienced by bulky, multi-part setups and offering ease, responsiveness and accessibility to foster independence, community and quality of life.
THE SOLUTION
A gaming controller which is modelled to be used through the full mouth, jaw, face and eye tracking capacity.
The device is designed to be compatible with cross-platform applications, possessing a powerful hybrid input system that offers flexibility and accessibility in navigating multiple menus from one device.
